NHA Seeks Consultancy for Proposed Additional Bridge at Ghazi Ghat
NHA Initiates Consultancy Process for Proposed Ghazi Ghat Bridge in Dera Ghazi Khan
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has advertised consultancy services for a techno-economic feasibility study and detailed design of a proposed additional two-lane bridge over the Indus River at Ghazi Ghat, Dera Ghazi Khan, along National Highway N-70.
According to the official procurement record, the tender was advertised on 21 September 2026, with the deadline for submission of bids set for 7 October 2026 at 11:30 a.m. The procurement reference number is TS0000012403E.
The proposed project concerns an additional bridge at Ghazi Ghat, an important crossing of the Indus River on the N-70 highway corridor. The feasibility study is intended to assess the technical and economic aspects of the proposed infrastructure, while the detailed-design component will establish the engineering plans required for further consideration of the project.
The consultancy stage is an important part of infrastructure planning. Its findings can help determine the project’s technical requirements, economic viability and suitability for implementation. Further progress would depend on the relevant assessments, approvals and subsequent government decisions.
The proposed bridge is of regional significance because Ghazi Ghat connects areas on either side of the Indus River along an important highway route serving Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding districts. An additional crossing could provide opportunities to improve transport connectivity and facilitate movement between connected areas, subject to the project’s final design and implementation.
At this stage, the published tender establishes that consultancy services were being sought for the feasibility study and detailed design. It does not, by itself, confirm that construction has commenced, that a construction contractor has been appointed or that a final construction budget and completion schedule have been approved.
Further developments will depend on the outcome of the procurement process, the feasibility assessment and the relevant authorities’ decisions regarding the project’s implementation.
